Homemade Shower Jelly Recipe

Ingredients

  • Hot filtered water: 4 ⅓ cups
  • Gelatin: 2 ½ teaspoons
  • Sea salt: 2 teaspoons
  • Shower gel: 1 cup
  • Essential oils: 20 drops (peppermint, for example)
  • Food colouring: 2 drops
  • Any colour of body glitter

How to make

  1. Boil 4 ⅓ cups of water in a mixing bowl and add 2 ½ tablespoons of gelatin into it.
  2. Add 2 tablespoons of salt to the pan and let it cool until dissolved.
  3. Once the salt has been dissolved and the mixture has cooled slightly, add 1 cup of shower gel or bath soap.
  4. Stir in 2 drops of food colouring (we used one each of red and yellow) until thoroughly blended.
  5. Add 20 drops of fragrance or essential oil if you'd like.
  6. Transfer the shower jelly mixture into the moulds of your choice.
  7. On top of the soap mixture, scatter some glitter. We chose black glitter, but you can use any type you want; nevertheless, we recommend biodegradable body glitter.
  8. Place the soap mould in the refrigerator and let the shower jellies cool for two hours before removing them from the moulds.
  9. Once cooled and removed from the moulds, your shower jellies are ready for use.

Ingredients

How to make

  1. Measure and mix Aqua, Dermosoft pA-3, Euxyl K712, sodium lauroyl sarcosinate, and cocamidopropyl betaine.
  2. Now, make a slurry of glycerin, carrageenan, and Solagum AX and combine with the above mixture.
  3. To achieve the optimal pH range for the preservative, now adjust the pH. In our situation, the pH is 5.
  4. Next, heat all of the ingredients except the essential oil on a hot plate to 75-80°C, then combine continually to avoid the contents from overheating.
  5. After heating and soaking the gums, let the blend cool.
  6. Now, add the essential oil below 60°C and blend thoroughly.
  7. Next, pour the jellies into silicone moulds and let them harden overnight.
  8. Once hardened, your shower jellies are ready for use.

How to Use Shower Jellies

The following are the points on how to use shower jelly:

  • To use shower jellies, wet them, lather them on skin, or use a loofah or shower pouf.
  • You can also use shower jellies to rinse off and chill or freeze for a fire-and-ice shower experience.
  • Store shower jellies in a container and drain excess water after use.
  • Wet your pouffe or loofah and rub it into the container with shower gel to lather it up without getting the entire bar wet. This method eliminates the excitement of wiggly, squishy shower jellies, but they are still enjoyable to play with.

Conclusion

Now you would probably know how to make shower jelly at home. DIY shower jellies offer a unique, fun, and cost-effective alternative to expensive cosmetic products, making them ideal for self-care or thoughtful gifting. With simple ingredients and straightforward formulations, they provide a rich sensation while promoting creativity and personal expression. These pH-balanced shower jellies do not dry out skin, and their delightful, faint aroma makes bathing or showering enjoyable.
