Sandalwood Scented Candle Recipe

Step 1: Chop or break beeswax into small pieces. Put them into a double stainless boiler to melt (so it won’t stick). Melt the beeswax at a lower temperature so it won’t get damaged. Stir the mixture gently 2 to 3 times so it won’t stick. Wait for beeswax to melt into a consistent mixture.

Step 2: For better time management, clean your pudding mold with water and dry it while melting beeswax. Then use silicone spray, so the beeswax mixture doesn't absorb any water or moisture. (water or moisture in candles will compromise the longevity of the sandalwood oil candles.

Step 3: For the wick, dip it into the melted wax. Fix your wick at the bottom of your mold. Make sure to use a broomstick, hairpin, or piece of wire to attach the other free end to a holder. Balance your wick straight and keep it in the centre of the mold. Many perish here, but I know you can easily do it, but be careful.

Step 4: When your beeswax reaches a smooth consistency, remove your double boiler from the flame. Use a thermometer to check the temperature of the beeswax.

When the temperature is between 45°C to 60°C, pour 30 ml of sandalwood essential oil into it (only for vanilla sandalwood candles). For flavoured candles, use 10 ml of sandalwood oil with 10 ml of 2 to 3 flavoured oils.

Step 5: At 45°C to 60°C, the mixture isn’t that hot but be careful and put the mixture of melted beeswax with sandalwood essential oils and flavoured oils(If any)slowly into the molds to edge.

This will prevent bubbles from forming. When using jars, thick butter paper, or other breakable materials, it is important to make sure that the reconstituted wax reaches 45°C to 60°C and to “warm” them up in the oven or via any other source of heat to prevent these molds from cracking. Leave it for it to cool down.

Step 6: Cut the excess wick so that it will provide you with a steady flame when lightened. It will help in fragrance to come out of a sandalwood candle quicker.
